President's Office

Functions of the Office

The President's Office

  • organises and coordinates the external presence of the university
  • recommends topics, provides advice, organises and coordinates meetings for the Presidium, the Senate and the Extended Presidium; the President’s Office internally communicates the decisions of the Presidium, monitors their implementation
  • prepares appointment
  • plans, supports and evaluates appointments based on the planning, and procures the corresponding committee resolutions
  • supports the drafting of university strategy documents
  • supports the organisation of the supervisor relationship for academic staff (research development, internship semesters, honorary professorships, negotiations, awarding distinctions, etc.)
  • supports the coordination of the President’s departments
  • prepares and implements the appointing of representatives, deans, vice deans, and other responsible individuals
  • supports external steering groups (German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), TLPK, the Studierendenwerk Board of Directors, the Materials Research and Testing Laboratory Advisory Board, the Weimar GmbH Advisory Board, etc.)
  • develops the annual committee plan

The following positions are also based in the office:

  • Vice Presidents Dr. Ulrike Kuch, Prof. Dr. Timon Rabczuk and Dr. Simon Frisch (primarily appointment coordination, committee work)
  • the University Council and the University Assembly under the direction of Dr. Thomas Rabe
  • the Administrative Office:
    • suggests topics, offers advice, organises and coordinates University Council and University Assembly meetings
    • prepares University Council/University Assembly resolutions and oversees their implementation
    • manages University Council funding
    • coordinates University Council/University Assembly work with the university committees

The office also manages the alumni department and university anniversaries. The office participates in coordinating major events, the Kinderuniversität, the Bauhaus.Atelier, and visitor information.
