Long Night of Sciences 2024 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar
On Friday 15 November 2024, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be a number of events for the Weimar and Weimarer Land Long Night of Sciences. From 6 pm to midnight, visitors can experiment, discover and learn about how science works. They can also enjoy presentations, exhibitions, lectures, and interactive experiments. Guided tours help visitors imagine what studying could look like in the future.
Science Mile Q3 | Coudraystraße 4 – 11
The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites visitors to various exhibitions, experiments, and guided tours: Visitorscan learn about sustainable water management and recycling concepts in the »Abwasserlabor« and the »b.is-Technikum«. The »Vertikale KlimaKlärAnlage« (VertiKKA) explains how façade greening and solar energy can be combined for greywater treatment. The »StimuCrete« research project invites visitors to their interactive »intelligentem Beton« course on accessibility and experiments. The Climate Chamber’s thermal manikin »Feelix« provides insights into the indoor climate of the future and exciting experiments and exhibits on natural hazards and resilient construction will take place in the »Versuchstechnischen Einrichtung (VTE)«.
Faculty of Media | Bauhausstraße 11
The »Interface Entwicklungslabor« will be holding a multimedia presentation on Sergej Eisenstein’s »Capital Diaries« from 7 to 8 pm with a visual and acoustic accompaniment.
KUBUS | Belvederer Allee 1a
The »Bauhaus Participation Lab«invites visitors to a communal planning project using virtual reality that will allow them to interactively explore and customise various planning options.
Digital Bauhaus Lab
The VR Lab will be offering insights into virtual worlds and showing how digital spaces can be used for knowledge transfer. Visitors are invited to take a tour through a digital twin of Goethe’s house where they can interactively experience digital objects.
Main Building | Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 8
From 6 to 9 pm, the »IfEU-Schaufenster« will be offering hands-on activities where guests of all ages can create a »City of the Future«. The programme also includes an exhibition on cultural heritage construction and a lecture on »konstruktionsinhärenter Denkmalwert«.
»Hybrides Lernatelier« | Amalienstraße 13
Visitors can take part in an experimental installation that transforms texts into immersive spaces in the »Hybride Lernatelier« in room 003 from 6 to 8:30 pm. The open workshop will demonstrate how AI can analyse large bodies of text and make them interactively tangible.
University Library | Steubenstraße 6
From 6 to 11 pm, visitors can learn about study opportunities, listen to a lecture on the norms and standards of academic work, and take a look at an exhibition on stationary traffic. The GRAMA Lounge will be introducing the »Imaginamics« cluster of excellence initiative, as well as a scholarship and photo exhibition.
In the Bauhaus.Atelier | Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 6, visitors can enjoy a break with coffee and refreshments, purchase souvenirs, and learn more about the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
Weimar and Weimarer Land are inviting local companies and scientific institutions to participate in the Long Night of Sciences for the fourth time. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has participated in this event every year since 2017.
During the event, visitors can take advantage of the free shuttle bus service to get to the individual event locations. Entrance is free of charge. The programme brochure, which includes all the stops, is available on the shuttle buses and at all participating institutions.
