In the winter semester of 2022/23, first-year students of the degree programme “Lehramt an Gymnasien Kunst (Fine Art Education)” designed and built an “Impossible Machine” based on the structure of a Rube Goldberg machine. Over many weeks, 19 students worked in groups to design and build five machines based on different natural phenomena. All five machines are connected to each other and are started by the first one. This triggers a chain reaction that sets the next machine in motion. Each machine automatically resets itself to its default setting, allowing it to be restarted. All machines are artistically and conceptually adapted to the selected natural phenomena.
