Emma Tietze: Kara & Vito, 2022
Type: Bachelor’s Project Degree Programme: Product Design Professorship: Design and Management Supervision: Prof. Gerrit Babtist, Almut Nowack

Can everyday clutter in the home be located – or even put to use? In response to this question, two distinct design concepts were developed: the Vito shelf and the Kara lamp. Both support human behavior patterns and positively influence domestic routines. Compositionally, the shelf reveals an asymmetric grid that structures everyday objects. Vito creates a clear hierarchy in its storage system, starting from an interactive center and radiating into less-used zones above and below. Kara, by contrast, emphasizes casual presentation – it exposes clutter rather than hiding it. The lamp consists of two rotationally molded plastic bodies. Depending on the viewing angle, Kara’s form shifts, offering space for objects to be presented in a personal and changeable way.
