The Director’s Room, which was opened in 1923 on the occasion of the Bauhaus exhibition, is still considered the “big bang” of modern design and architecture and is representative of the legacy of the Staatliches Bauhaus Weimar. 100 years later, this exhibition showcases student works that undertake a collective, critical and contemporary re-invention of this room: how can we challenge a century of musealization? How can we use emergent digital technologies for capture, design, and fabrication (such as 3D scanning, parametric modeling, and CNC milling) to develop novel and fresh approaches to this legacy? During the exhibition, a CNC milling machine was used to produce participatory objects that visitors were allowed to take away. In collaboration with the Chair for Design Theory and Design.
