A one-week field-research-based teaching workshop was conducted by taking Bishoftu, Ethiopia as a case study location. Over 20 students of both institutes – EiABC from urban planning program, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar from IUDD program – took part. The teaching workshop was directly linked to the INUMO (Integrated Urban Mobility) research Project.

Over the course of the trip, the students engaged in immersive fieldwork, observing and analysing the urban mobility challenges faced by the local community. Through interviews, surveys and map based data collection, they sought to understand the existing transportation infrastructure, identify key bottlenecks, and propose innovative solutions to a selected area to enhance the overall mobility experience.

This intercultural exchange not only broadened the students' perspectives but also fostered meaningful connections between different academic institutions and communities. Tesfaye Hailu, Israel Tesfu and Michael Tesfaye of EiABC as well as Metadel Sileshi Belihu & Philippe Schmidt of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar were responsible to guide the workshop at Bishoftu.

This workshop was partly funded through ERASMUS+
