INUMO - Final Workshop
From 2nd to 6th June we held a final workshop summarizing and discussing project results and future collaborations.
As part of the Integrated Urban Mobility (INUMO) project, an intensive workshop week took place in Weimar in June 2025. The event brought together academic staff, students, and project partners from Germany and Ethiopia to strengthen collaboration, share research insights, and develop strategies for sustainable urban mobility in Ethiopia.
The week began with a warm welcome at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism by Dean Prof. Sigrun Langner, followed by presentations on innovative research from the Chair of Informatics in Architecture and Urbanism such as DigiWo, Spatial Timber, Neufert 4.0. This was followed by a campus tour and project presentation at the Bauhaus green:house, where the international master programmes IUDD and DTAD were introduced. A highlight was a demonstration of the Bauhaus Participation Lab, where multiple stakeholders can explore future urban designs collaboratively.
Central to the event was the INUMO Student Workshop, where IUDD students engaged with project leads Dr. Anthene Tesfaye Tola and Dr. Zegeye Cherenet Mamo. The session focused on rapid urbanization in Ethiopia and its consequences both for planning and the cities inhabitants.
Throughout the week, project meetings were held to reflect on past progress, finalize reporting tasks, and explore follow-up opportunities under new DAAD calls and SDG-focused collaborations. Strategic discussions during the steering committee with Prof. Reinhard König (the director of bauhaus.ifex) and Dr. Christian Kästner (the head of the international office) helped map out the future direction of the Emerging City Lab Addis Ababa (ECL-AA).
Beyond the academic programme, the group explored regional development themes with a field trip to Bad Sulza. Evening activities such as a BBQ and cultural outings strengthened team spirit and intercultural exchange.
