Mohamed Mousa
Mohammed Abdel Aziz is urban planner and expert in spatial digital solutions, currently serving as a Digitalisation Advisor for GIZ. Since 2018 he is teaching a GIS course at Bauhaus University Weimar in the Master programme Integrated Urban Development and Design (IUDD). Here he has also been been part of the teaching team for the Bauhaus summer school course Cultural Landscapes and Urban Resilience which took place 7 years so far.
With over 20 years of hands-on experience, Mohammed Abdel Aziz specialized in participatory planning tools and sustainable urban development. His expertise includes conducting capacity assessments, implementing capacity development measures, and promoting digital tools to advance the "Leave No one Behind" approach in urban development.
He has managed collaborations between GIZ Egypt and academic institutions on both national and international levels and has worked with organizations like GIZ, UNDP, and universities such as Stuttgart and TU Berlin. His professional engagements span projects in Germany, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Peru, and Egypt.
Mohammed Abdel Aziz holds an MSc Integrated Urbanism & Sustainable Design (IUSD) from Stuttgart University and Ain Shams University, with research focusing on “Developing Informal Areas through a Business model” and is currently pursuing his PhD at Bauhaus University Weimar at the chair for informatics in architecturs and urbanism (InfAU). His doctoral research focuses on employing smart technology in the fast-growing cities in Africa.
