The Enacting Space project draws on the kinaesthetic component of proprioception, that is, movement, posing and reconsidering the perception and production of space in terms of actions. The project wants to bring enaction and agency to the production of space, showing how we just do not merely act in space, but we actually act upon it.
Through the use of kinaesthetic sensors (Kinect), the body and its movements are defined as the parameter to design with. The project wants to be a design tool that reconsiders the body as the source and main element of architecture and design. The project uses Rhinoceros and Grasshopper to integrate the input of the movements into the design process.
A mobile application has also been developed and thought to be used on a smartphone wrapped around the user's forearm, in or- der to let him have direct control and provide inputs for the pro- cess. The user can input his stature (to assure better accuracy), set the views and decide the elements to display (the space he is enacting, and his bone structure in lines and joints) and control the movements he is performing for every distinct part of his body.
