Wintersemester 2014/2015
Project Description:
In the project "Video Mapping Experiments" the students were able to acquire the skills and knowledge for the projection of videos on different surfaces.
Ergebnisse:
Through a series of exercises and workshops with experts, the students have become familiar with the techniques of video mapping, animation and image processing. The aim of the project was to communicate contextual visual ideas and stories using this medium by different methods.
As a place for projection was for one the foyer of the main building of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar chosen, with the reconstructed reliefs by Joost Schmidt (1923) and by Hubert Schiefelbein (1976). The abstract three-dimensional compositions gave opportunity to playful and concrete interpretations of geometric principles and historical background of the project.
Second projection place is the Haus am Horn (1923) with the West facade. The students have focused on the history of the house as experimental building of the traditional Bauhaus and on the Bauhaus masters. Hence experimental visual ideas and storyboards have been developed which can be precisely projected on the facade of the house. Thereby, the architectural surface becomes an animated image space that invites the viewer to ambiguous perceptual experiences.
