In vielen Städten ist zu beobachten, dass die lang diskutierte Verkehrswende nun endlich Realität wird. Barcelona baut die autofreien Superblocks, Kopenhagen ist zum Pilgerort des Radverkehrs geworden und Paris verwandelt die Uferstraßen der Seine in Tanzflächen und Stadtstrände. „Transit oriented development“, „15-Minuten-Stadt“ und „Liveable City“ sind die neuen Leitbilder eines Städtebaus der nachhaltigen Mobilität.
Und so wie die autogerechte Stadt Tankstellen, Parkhäuser und Drive-Ins hervorgebracht hat, erzeugt auch die Verkehrswende neue Typologien – die Bauten der neuen Mobilität. In Utrecht steht das größte Fahrradparkhaus der Welt, in Groningens Innenstadt ein Stadtforum anstelle einer Großgarage, in Hamburg wird aus einem Parkhaus ein Wohnhaus und Kopenhagen glänzt mit einer ganzen Sammlung spektakulärer Fahrradbrücken.
Im Seminar wollen wir diese Bauten recherchieren, verstehen und uns gegenseitig vorstellen. Einige sind hoch komplex, andere ganz einfach, aber alle repräsentieren einen sich real vollziehenden Stadtumbau - den deutsche Städte jetzt nur noch nachmachen müssen.
Buildings of the new mobility
In many cities, we can see that the long-discussed traffic turnaround is finally becoming a reality. Barcelona is building car-free superblocks, Copenhagen has become a pilgrimage site for cycling and Paris is transforming the riverside streets of the Seine into dance floors and city beaches. "Transit-oriented development", "15-minute city" and "liveable city" are the new guiding principles of urban planning for sustainable mobility.
And just as the car-oriented city has produced petrol stations, multi-storey car parks and drive-ins, the traffic turnaround is also producing new typologies - the buildings of new mobility. In Utrecht, there is the largest bicycle parking garage in the world, in Groningen's city centre there is a city forum instead of a large garage, in Hamburg a parking garage has been turned into a residential building and Copenhagen shines with a whole collection of spectacular bicycle bridges.
In the seminar we want to research, understand and present these buildings to each other. Some are highly complex, others quite simple, but all represent a real urban transformation - which German cities now only have to imitate.
