Stefan Bendiks is the director of Artgineering, an office for research and design, combining cycling and urban planning. He is the author of ‘Cycle Infrastructure’, a handbook about how to fully explore the potential of bicycle paths and of ‘Cycling Nation’, a study on the added value of cycling in the Netherlands. With Artgineering he currently realizes various projects on public spaces in the Netherlands and Belgium where cycling is not only conceived as a mode of transport, but a powerful means to improve the city as a whole. In various research and design projects, he re-interprets the relation of mobility, landscape and urban development. Stefan Bendiks has been lecturing  in the Netherlands and abroad. In 2013/14 he was professor at the Academy of fine Arts in Vienna.

John Dales  is director of Urban Movement, a consultancy specialising in transport planning and the design of urban streets and spaces. He began life as a transport professional in 1984 and has been based in London for most of the past 30 years, working in both the public and private sectors. He established Urban Movement at the start of 2010. His work over the past decade and more has focused on complex urban development projects and the design of multi-functional, people-friendly streets and spaces in town and city centres, and around stations. John is a design advisor on streets to several UK local authorities, Chair of the UK Transport Planning Society, and a trustee of Living Streets (the UK charity for everyday walking).

Laurent Barelier  is a member of the French think tank Groupe Chronos, a consulting and prospective organisation specialized in urban innovation and  mobilities. He studied political science (Sciences Po Lille) and urbanism and transportation (University of Lille). Former professional experiences include the Danish Architecture Center and the Institute for Transportation and Development Policies Mexico. Current projects with Groupe Chronos include prospective studies for the French railway company (SNCF), experimentation of behaviour change initiatives in the Paris Region (French Environment and Energy Management Agency) and the evaluation of the Scootlib system for the Paris Region.

Klaus Bondam is the director of Danish Cyclists’ Federation. He was a member of the City Council in Copenhagen from 2002 to 2010 where he served as Mayor for Technical and Environmental Affairs. He was known as the ‘Bicycle Mayor’. Originally he is trained as an actor and worked as a theater manager for many years. He is a member of steering board of World Cycling Alliance, of the executive board of the Danish Road Safety Council and other relevant forums for urban and transport policies. In his work he focuses on traffic safety, accessibility and comfort for everyday cyclists for the benefit of public health and the environment, and to ensure that cycling is considered an equal means of transportation through greater intermodality.
