Hannes Neubauer, Leipzig
As a chess performer during mass demonstrations in Brazil, as a constructor for large-scale kinetic steel
sculptures in Germany and as a sea rescuer off the coast of Africa — Hannes Neubauer uses different surroundings and mediums for his “artactions” and “culptures” reflecting on the complexity of public spaces
— as craftsman, artist and activist.
He travelled several years as blacksmith journey-men, studied Design at HAWK Hildesheim and graduated from MFA “Public Art and New Artistic Strategies” at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Neubauer received several awards, e.g. the honor as “culture and creative pilot of Germany” by the Federal Government of Germany. For his lecture he will just arrive from the refugee rescue ship Seefuchsof the NGO Sea-Eye off the coast of Libya, to talk about his experience on the ship, the current situation at the new European borders and to discuss formats of political or humanistic actions as an artist in a global diverse society.
