Ina Weise, Dresden/Weimar
Artists have to think of alternative ways to be able to make art. Ina Weise’s work consists of interconnected components such as printmaking, interventions in public space, artistic research, and collective work. Her printed works represent this layering of approaches. She uses traditional techniques as letterpress and then modifies it, deciding on shapes, textures and colors as if they were the rules of a game. The results are large-scale compositions, pieced together from multiple one-of-a-kind prints. Weise is a member of the open workshop Rosenwerk in Dresden, which gives artists and designers the possibility to design, plan and execute their ideas in a community. The workshops bundle traditional crafts and modern high technology in one place. Being part of this platform is another aspect of what forms Weise’s hybrid working strategy.
