Luise Schröder, Leipzig
Luise Schröder is an artist, art mediator and cultural activist from Leipzig who deals with aspects of history in its making, its recording, its (re)construction, and its naturalization. She is particularly interested in the impact of history-making on current political affairs, institutions and collective identities. In her artistic practice she re-reads, re-writes, re-edits and re-enacts the pictures and images she comes across in her research. These, she regards as essential elements of a certain culture of remembrance. Luise Schröder considers her work to be a kind of a visual translation process. By dealing with various historical events and the corresponding acts of commemoration, she attempts to figure out how the past is still relevant today. Introduced by Hannes Neubauer, Sujin Lim, Jeanette Chavez Ruiz, Silja Darmstadt.
