Zafos Xagoraris, Athens
Zafos Xagoraris has been working on a series of sound installations or actions in public sphere since 2003. His work consists of drawings, public installations, participatory events, obstructing devices of audio or other signals and outdoor interventions with the use of sound amplification mechanisms. The presentation will also include examples of works related to historical events, memory and specific acoustic environments or spatial conditions. Zafos Xagoraris has studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His Ph.D. from the National Technical University of Athens was about the construction of miracles by Hero of Alexandria. He has presented various personal shows and participated in international exhibitions such as: “No Country for Young Men”, Bozar, Brussels, 2014, 4th Athens Biennial, 2013, “Sotto Quale Cielo”, Museo Riso, Palermo, 2011, Manifesta 7, Rovereto, 2008, 1st Bienal Fin del Mundo, Ushuaia, 2007, 1st Thessaloniki Biennale, 2007 and the 27th Sao Paulo Bienal, 2006.
