Christiane Mennicke-Schwarz
This June of this year Kunsthaus Dresden will open a festival of public interventions. The master students of Public Art and New Artistic Strategies at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be the first to intervene into the public texture of Dresden, a city notorious as a backdrop for populist right wing public appearances, a.k.a. Pegida.
Christiane Mennicke-Schwarz, director of the Kunsthaus and curator of the festival Am Fluss. Zu Kulturen des Ankommens will trace the context, lines of thinking and the manifold challenges, in which this project as well as the curatorial practice of her institution develops. She will open up links to connected modes of thoughts and practices. Modifying the refrain of what we understand as concepts of identity and the importance of repetition and modification of these in artistic and curatorial modes will form an essential topic of her reflections and shared talk.
