Nate Wooley, New York City (USA)
Nate Wooley started playing trumpet professionally at the age of 13. Since moving to New York in 2001, he has become an iconoclastic figure by redefining the physicality of his instrument. With a combination of vocalization, noise and drone aesthetics, amplification, feedback, and compositional rigor, Wooley is considered one of the leading lights of the American movement to redefine the physical boundaries of the trumpet.Nate Wooley, New York City (USA)
He has performed regularly with icons such as John Zorn, Eliane Radigue and MacArthur Award recipient Ken Vandermark. Furthermore, he has been a featured artist in residence at Walker Center for Performing Arts, WRO Media Biennial, Brooklyn's Issue Project Room, and SWR's Donaueschingen Festival.
Wooley is a 2016 recipient of the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists Award founded by John Cage and Jasper Johns.
