Liad Hussein Kantorowicz, Berlin
Liad is a queer performance artist and a political activist. Born in Israel-Palestine, Liad took part in forming the largest Israeli-Palestinian popular resistance group in the post-Second-Intifada period "Anarchists Against the Wall", as well as the first queer community in the Middle East. She became the first outed sex worker to fight for the rights of sex workers and coined the term ‘sex work’ in Hebrew. In the midst of all of that, Liad started performing, curating and coordinating performances and performative actions that were deeply rooted and connected to her political reality. The point of transition to performance arts led her migrate to Berlin, where she resides today. Liad performed initially within queer context and queer venues before expanding her work to a broader audience. In this lecture Liad will focus on the gap between performance art and activism and the questions arising from the presentations of these themes in the different fields. Vortrag in englischer Sprache.
