Projektbeschreibung
This exhibition presents the work of students from the design studio "Adaptive Urban Masterplans for Pidzamche 2040." Pidzamche, an urban quarter in Lviv, Ukraine, is characterized by extensive industrial zones, limited accessibility and attractiveness, and social marginalization.
The four student projects aim to transform Pidzamche into a vibrant and livable environment that fosters social, cultural, and productive exchange while boosting local businesses. To achieve this, the students employed advanced computational tools. They used parametric models to generate urban forms, such as the street network and buildings, and to distribute land uses. Additionally, they applied computational analyses, including density, movement, and visibility analysis, to evaluate whether their designs meet their goals.
Each project follows an individual strategy for transforming Pidzamche. One project focuses on creating a lively boulevard that connects the city center with the north, while another aims to activate a path along historical sites. Another project envisions Pidzamche as a high-density green city, and the fourth project adopts a sensitive approach to reactivating the city with minor changes, termed “Urban Acupuncture”.
The design studio was conducted in collaboration with the Kharkiv School of Architecture, which, due to the war, is currently based in Lviv.
