Projektbeschreibung

Untamed, fierce, undomesticated, feral, uncivilized, passionate, uncontrolled…

There is a plethora of synonyms and different connotations for the term “wild”. To think of something wild as something untamed that had better be controlled, seems to be a natural line of thought in our society. Wild structures often have a negative aura: worthless, needless, rather in need of an upgrade. Which structures in the urban or rural fabric do we perceive as uncontrollably wild? What are the indicators that bring us to that assessment? And finally, do we perceive it as a negative or positive aspect? In three roundtable sessions with invited speakers from various disciplines we inspected the term, its shifts in meaning and the possibilities they might entail.

The participants of the seminar were challenged to pick an aspect of “wild” in the urban or rural context and document their research, findings and observations concerning that aspect in an infographic or mapping. We invite you to look at the results and reflect on your own perception of wildness!
