1) Why are you studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar?
As a Media student at Bauhaus University, I’m surrounded by peers from diverse fields like art, urbanism, architecture, and media culture. You can imagine how this environment continuously expands and reshapes my imagination and perspectives. The interdisciplinary nature of Bauhaus encourages me to break free from traditional approaches, blending insights from multiple disciplines into my work. From the moment I arrived, the unique and diverse community inspired me. The close-knit campus, along with strong student solidarity, makes collaboration not only easier but more exciting. Bauhaus University truly transforms Weimar into a vibrant, interdisciplinary playground where students and researchers leave their mark throughout the city!
2) What is special about your project? Why is it relevant?
I recently completed a mini-research project that received positive feedback from my professor, and I’m now considering expanding the topic for my future thesis. The research explores the differences between traditional creative tools (like pen, paper, and paint) and modern digital software, with a particular focus on the "delete," "erase," and "undo" functions. It raises an intriguing question: when we press CTRL+Z, do we really need to erase everything perfectly, or should traces and imperfections remain, as they would on paper?
Additionally, I was part of the Data Driven Objects project, where, in collaboration with other students, we presented "The Earth is Not Enough" at Summaery2024. This project involved a data physicalized system, allowing participants to step into the role of the Earth and experience how our planet becomes exhausted while fulfilling the energy demands of countries.
3) What characterises your voluntary commitment in Weimar?
This year was filled with voluntary activities for me, and it's been an exciting journey. Over the summer, I was elected as a member of the Student Council for the Media Faculty, where I represent the interests of both international and Media students within StuKo. Additionally, I’m part of the university's Awareness Team, which aligns closely with my core values—promoting a safe and inclusive campus for all.
I'm also actively involved in Bauhaus Internationals, where we organize cultural events, and workshops, and foster connections throughout the year. We collaborated with QueerYMR during Pride Week on campus, hosted several language café sessions, and played a key role in welcoming new international students during Freshers Week.
