THEMA: A-track-tion:
Body Tracking Technology as a Performative Partner in the Digital Age
Bauhaus-Abschlussstipendium für Studierende
1) Why are you studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar?
Bauhaus-Universität Weimar's interdisciplinary structure aligns perfectly with my research, allowing me to explore the intersections of media, technology, and performance art in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.
2) What is special about your project? Why is it relevant?
The thesis project reimagines body-tracking technology—not as a tool for surveillance but as a medium for artistic expression that can deepen our understanding of agency, movement, and connection. In an era where digital data from our bodies is continuously captured and commodified, this thesis challenges us to see body-tracking as a performative partner rather than an intrusive observer. By inviting participants to engage with their own and each other's movements in a shared, interactive setting, the work exposes the data that often operates invisibly in surveillance contexts, fostering an awareness of how we are seen and quantified. The performance aims to shift perceptions of monitoring and embodiment, blending visibility with genuine interaction and ultimately explores how simple movements can reclaim our presence and draw us to question the mechanisms that evaluate our bodies.
