University library switching to essential service from December 16th 2020

After the resolutions made by the German chancellor and the states‘ minister-presidents, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has decided to switch the university library to an essentials-only service from December 16th 2020 to January 10th 2021. During that period, as during the library‘s first reopening period from April 21st 2020, the library will be open for pickups and returns only. Outside the library’s closing period from December 23rd 2020 to January 3rd 2021, the library will offer this service from Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm. To reduce personal contacts, the service only covers university members.
From December 16th 2020 until January 22nd 2020, the automatic reminder system will be disabled. During this period the library will raise no late fees. You may currently renew items on loan up to 10 times. Using either the online catalogue (OPAC) or the discovery service BibSearch, you may request items from the library’s whole collection. Requested items will be held for pickup at the circulation desk from the following day for five days. Reservations currently cannot be placed.
University members will be able to comfortably request single articles or chapters from items that cannot be borrowed using the newly established campus delivery service.
The library’s digital services remain available unchanged and will be expanded further.
