1. Construction work – University library closing at 12pm on February 19th and opening in the Limona building from February 22nd

Due to upcoming construction work in the circulation area and the library entrance area between February 22nd and April 1st the library's circulation desk will temporarily relocate to the Limona building. On February 19th, the library will close at 12pm for preparations. Starting on Monday, February 22nd 2021, we will continue to offer essential library services in the Limona building within the current opening times (Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm). The entrance to the Limona building will be located in Schützengasse. Please refer to our website for more information on the construction and our essential services.
On April 6th the library will reopen from the main building with a redesigned entrance area. You will be able to comfortably check out items on your own using RFID technology. We aim to also reopen the library itself at this date, along with a limited number of study spaces, and also to extend our opening times to Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm as a first step.

2. »Straßenbau A-Z Extranet« - now available from off campus to university members

Since 2010 we have provided access to the database »Straßenbau A-Z Extranet« and therefore to important technical specifications and official regulations surrounding road construction and traffic engineering. So far, the database could only be accessed from within the university network. Thanks to a new license, university members may now also access the database from off campus using VPN.

3. Promotion of Open Access monographs

The third installment of the Open Access series IfEU.OPEN was published in OPUS Weimar at the end of January 2021: a bachelor thesis by Lena Wild about planning and support measures to ensure medical care in Thuringia, supervised by the chair of Spatial Planning and Research. The IfEU.OPEN series by the Institute for European Urban Studies at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar offers an opportunity to publish outstanding theses and thereby makes students‘ empirical and theoretical contributions available to the greater public in Open Access.
Further in January 2021, this year‘s first application to promote an Open Access monograph was granted. Anton Brokow-Loga and Frank Eckardt plan to publish their book »Stadtpolitik für alle. Städte zwischen Pandemie und Transformation« with Verlag Graswurzelrevolution under a creative commons license.
Since 2019, the Open Access publication fund at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has already funded seven monographs. Four books have been published in Open Access, three more are in production. You can find further information on the criteria for funding on our website.

4. FAIRest Dataset Award 2021
