The renovation work in the lending and service area of the new library building has largely been completed and the new RFID technology will find its way into the University Library in the next few days. In order to be able to prepare the commissioning well, the library will be closed on Friday, April 23rd, 2021. We look forward to welcoming you to the redesigned entrance and service area from April 26th, 2021. You can expect convenient self-booking options for borrowing the media yourself, as well as an info screen in the foyer that keeps you up to date on current developments. We will continue to be there for you personally at the new service desk on the ground floor. From April 26th, extended opening times also apply; the library will then be open again from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Furthermore, we are once again providing access to the open access areas and a limited number of workstations. After online order, older journal volumes can also be consulted again inside the library. The same applies to special collections and other media that cannot be borrowed. However, an appointment at short notice by e-mail is also necessary for consulting these collections. For items that cannot be ordered online, please contact sonderbestand[at]ub.uni-weimar.de.

2. Corona rules for library visits from April 26th

Due to the corona pandemic, special rules apply to library visits. A maximum of 127 people is allowed to stay inside the library at the same time. All visitors of the reading and working areas are therefore requested to check in and out at the designated terminal both when entering and when leaving these areas. This process realizes both counting the people and the currently required contact tracking. University members can simply use their thoska to check in and out, guest users please contact the service desk.
With regard to employees of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the staff council points out that university staff should not use the library workstations if possible, as they either work from home anyway or an office workstation is available to them that better meets the requirements of the current Corona-related occupational health and safety ordinance.
The information desks in the reading and open access areas are still not manned and we ask you to keep personal contacts inside the library to a minimum. If you have any questions, please send an email to info[at]ub.uni-weimar.de. Compliance with the general hygiene and distance rules is expected. Please also note the obligation to wear a medical mouth and nose protection (surgical mask or FFP2 mask) during your entire library stay as well as further information on site or on our website.
The infection protection concept of the University Library of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (Infektionsschutzkonzept) applies.

3. Please note - late fees will be charged again from May 3rd on

Please return any items that are already overdue or will be due by May 3rd, 2021 in time or – if possible - extend the loan period online in your library account.
