1. Live music series zdf@bauhaus continues on July 24th and 25th
On July 24th and 25th, the university library will once again host recording sessions for the live music series zdf@bauhaus. Each day two shows will be recorded, to be broadcast on 3sat. Due to infection prevention measures, no audience will be admitted.
The first show, Mighty Oaks, will be aired on the same day - Saturday, July 24th – at 6pm. The second show, Stefanie Heinzmann, will be broadcast live at 7pm.
We are aiming for as little impact on the library as possible, and the library will open as usual on Saturday from 10am to 6pm. However, please expect a certain level of disturbance and noise during setup in the days leading up to Saturday and on Saturday itself. Access to the lower floor locker rooms and restrooms will be somewhat limited. On Saturday there will be sound checks and two recording sessions. The Limona building is likely to be the only place where you can work in silence throughout.
On Sunday, July 25th, two more shows will be recorded and broadcast at a later date.
2. Payment option at self-service terminals now active
After introducing the self-service terminals on April 26th, we were able to modernize and improve borrowing and returns. Some functions required additional work over the last months. We’re glad to announce that a payment option is available at the terminals as of last week. Fees from late returns, inter-library loans or purchasing a library bag can now be paid with your thoska directly at the self-service terminals.
3. New e-books published by C.H.Beck
Until the end of 2021, around 1,500 e-books published by C.H.Beck will be available from within the university network. The selection included titles from the subject humanities. At the end of this period, the university library will evaluate which e-books will be licensed indefinitely.
4. »DVGW-Regelwerk Online Plus« - now available via Shibboleth
By the university library’s licensing, standards and regulations for technical and scientific issues surrounding gas and water supply are available from across campus on »DVGW-Regelwerk Online Plus«. Access has now been expanded to allow university members to also access this service from outside the university network using Shibboleth.
5. Graphic portfolio handed over to the university library
The summer semester student project »Minutiöse Stille«, mentored by the artistic head of the printing workshop Peter Heckwolf, puts into focus how working in the printing workshop has been completely changed by coronavirus. Outside the workshop graphics were produced, partly with experimental imagine techniques, which tell stories of enforced staying at home. The result was a small run of graphic portfolios. On July 21st 2021, Peter Heckwolf, along with the students, handed over one copy to Dr. Simon-Ritz (library director) and Sylvelin Rudolf (subject librarian art and design). It will become part of the library collection, a memory made available to everyone.
6. III. Weimar silent movie retrospective starting as part of Kunstfest Weimar
This year’s silent movie retrospective from August 29th to September 8th is dedicated to the »circle of immortals«, those great celebrities of Weimar cinema and their relations to the movie industry, the audience and the art of film. The LICHTHAUS THEATER, BAUHAUS-UNIVERSITÄT WEIMAR, the WEIMAR CITY ARCHIVE STADTARCHIV and KUNSTFEST WEIMAR present rare films which were particularly successful in Weimar theaters 100 years ago. Accompanied by historic newsreels, lectures and talks with experts on film, culture and music, the films will be placed in a critical and historical context. You are invited!
