1. Background knowledge on Ukraine and Russia – Free access to e-books and articles

De Gruyter supports your efforts to deepen your knowledge in these times of uncertainty with freely accessible research literature. The publisher offers access to online publications from the following subjects: European history, international relations, law, modern history, politics, Slavic literature and sociology. The offer is free of charge and valid until June 30th 2022.
We have collected more information services and literature lists for you on our Ukraine Aid site.

2. Open Access book »Atlas der Datenkörper« funded and published

The monograph »Atlas der Datenkörper«, edited by Marlene Bart and Johannes Breuer (both doctoral candidates at the Art and Design faculty) as well as Alex Leo Freier (doctoral candidate at HU Berlin) and subsidized from the Open Access publication fund at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, has now been published in open access thanks to cooperative contributions from the Open Access fund of Thuringia as well as the Open Access publication fund of the Humboldt-Universität in Berlin. It can be accessed free of charge under a CC BY license in OPUS Weimar.
The Open Access publication fond at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has supported open access monographs since 2019. Please refer to our website for funding criteria and information on how to apply.

3. Thuringian libraries in Open Access transformation

In what direction does open access publishing develop? Does the cooperation between Thuringian university libraries work? What role do the open access officers play, and what challenges are there to overcome?
Our own open access officer Dana Horch and colleagues from Schmalkalden and Ilmenau share their experiences in a talk with Kai Geschuhn (Max Planck Digital Library Services gGmbH, Munich).
Give it a read if you’re interested. The interview was published in an article in »o-bib. Das offene Bibliotheksjournal« and can be accessed online free of charge.

4. »Writing for future« - The Long Night of Academic Writing 2022

The time has almost come again! This summer semester, an entire evening will be dedicated to academic writing in the university library. This year’s topic: sustainability and environmentally friendly writing. If you’re interested in initiatives for sustainability in research, writing and publishing and would like to work in a more environmentally friendly way yourself, keep your schedule free for June 23rd 2022 from 6pm. Bauhaus Research School and the university library are preparing a wide hybrid programme, which will be published in advance on the Long Night project site.
And anyone already involved in a sustainability project is cordially invited to follow the open call for design concepts, publications, image galleries or other materials and submit them until May 15th 2022. Selected works will be exhibited at the Long Night of Academic Writing. We’re looking forward to a variety of submissions from different faculties and departments! You’ll find further information and the online submission form on the project site.

5. New Coffee Lectures – Introducing the NFDI consortia

During the summer semester, some of the largest consortia in the national research data infrastructure under involvement of Thuringia will introduce themselves. The NFDI4Ing consortium has already made a start; the NFDI4Culture, NFDI4Chem and NFDI4Bioderversity consortia will follow soon. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and stop by online! It's free of charge. Each event will be recorded and can be watched at your leisure. Please find further information on the Thuringian Competence Network's Online Coffee Lectures online.

6. Fourth Thuringian RDM days – Save the date

»Improve the way you work! – Tools for Research Data Management« is this year's motto for the Thuringian Research Data Management days, to be held from June 20th to 24th 2022. Details about the workshops and how to register will be announced soon.
