1. Library regulations update

Six years after the last update we brought our library regulations up to date in terms of both language and content. Important changes such as students acknowledging the regulations as early as during immatriculation or the repeal of the blanket ban on drinks in the library are now fixed in writing. Additionally, we rephrased a paragraph on personal data protection and updated the entire document to follow gender sensitive language recommendations.
We’re happy to be able to address the many facets of library use in an up-to-date set of regulations. As soon as we can we will also make them available in English.

2. New Coffee Lecture Series on research data management

The Thuringian Competence Network Research Data Management continues its Coffee Lecture Series in the 2025 summer semester. Due to popular demand fundamental topics in research data management are being rerun and now also offered in English. The lectures have been revised to include new tools and services and brought up to date. They are therefore wlel worth attending even if you’ve already seen the German version.
All lectures will be recorded and made available to review.

3. Olivia Vieweg graphic novels: author’s reading and exhibition during Weimarer Lesarten

Until April 17th the Weimar festival for contemporary literature »Lesarten« will run its schedule full of readings, movies and interactive formats. We’d like to remind our readers of the events involving Olivia Vieweg and the university library:
Olivia Vieweg, one of Germany’s most successful comics artists and an alumna of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, will introduce her latest graphic novel »Fangirl Fantasy« on April 9th in the public library as well as give insights into her creation process. Following the reading there will be a talk with Dr. Moritz Lampe, subject librarian for art and design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar library.
In association with this event the university library will house the exhibition »Held*innen – Comics von Olivia Vieweg« (»Heroes – Comics by Olivia Vieweg«) from April 8th until May 8th. There will be an opening ceremony on April 8th at 4pm, with a lauditory speech by Werner Holzwarth.
