Thesis

The Chair of Design and Housing offers supervision of thesis projects, both in the winter and summer semesters. Working on them simultaneously, a continuous mutual exchange and a joint final presentation of students' projects have proven to be useful. The Chair offers different formats for bachelor and master theses:

- A thesis can involve a topic related to the current semester. The topics are published before the start of a semester in early September or early March on the Chair's web page and in the schedule of courses at the faculty.

- A thesis topic can be in the context of a thesis studio that is preceded by an overarching subject selection process in which the students partake. Thesis studios are generally held in the winter semester.

- A thesis topic can be in the context of a teaching research project. Teaching research projects run for two semesters and contain a preparatory seminar, an excursion and a design studio. They generally start in the summer semester and finish at the end of the winter semester.

- A thesis topic concluding the master course in architecture can be chosen individually. Certain requirements have to be met for the topic to be approved. These are clarified in a personal meeting.

At the end of each semester, the chair offers an information meeting for the thesis in the following semester. The date is announced on the university message board.
