Exciting conference days at the EiABC
From February 26th to March 2nd, 2024, the joint conference "Building a Resilient Infrastructure (BRI) - Towards Sustainable Urban Transition" took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
This event was organized by the Addis Ababa University - Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development (EiABC) and the Bauhaus University Weimar.
The conference offered a wide range of activities, including workshops, a PhD colloquium, site visits, and meetings with local companies. Under the theme "Building a Resilient Infrastructure (BRI) - Towards Sustainable Urban Transition," the focus was on the challenges and solutions in the field of sustainable urban development.
Overall, the conference served as a significant forum for the exchange of knowledge and ideas in the field of sustainable urban development. Through various activities and close collaboration between the participating institutions, important impulses were provided for a resilient infrastructure that will drive sustainable urban transformation.
The event was based on a long-standing cooperation between the Bauhaus University Weimar (Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism) and the Addis Ababa University under the Emerging City Lab (ECL-AA). This partnership has enabled joint work on solutions for the urban challenges of tomorrow while establishing sustainable infrastructure. The ongoing project is named INUMO (Integrated Urban Mobility – Digital Methods for Interactive Scenario Development of Sustainable Traffic Infrastructure for Emerging Cities in Ethiopia).
