Seminar Master Architektur/MediaArchitecture 1. FS, 2 SWS | 3 ECTS
Lehrender: Dipl.-Ing. Ronny Schüler
As director of the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale, Alejandro Aravena calls to the frontlines of the built environment. Whereas his predecessor Rem Koolhaas focused on the „Elements“ of today´s architecture through a thorough social, historic and architectural analysis, Aravena draws the attention to the most essential duties of any architect: „REPORTING FROM THE FRONT will be about bringing to a broader audience, what it is like to improve the quality of life while working on the margins, under tough circumstances, facing pressing challenges.“ The 2016 Biennale promises to transcend socially conscious architecture from a ‘trend‘ to a ‘movement‘ and thus offers hope for the future of our profession.
The seminar will analyse the theoretical and practical approaches of the 2016 Biennale contributions and prepare a critical review by collecting the available sources and evaluating the actual exhibition on-site.
The seminar will be held in English.
