In der Bauhausstraße 7b steht ein alter Zweckbau aus den siebziger Jahren, der langsam vor sich hin rottet. Die Farbe blättert, der Putz bröckelt, das Objekt scheint reif für den Abriss. Konsequenter Klimaschutz aber bedeutet, dass sich der Blick auf den Bestand ändern muss, weil auch das hässlichste Haus durch die im Bauwerk gebundene Energie plötzlich neuen Wert erhält.
Auch der Hochschulbau in der Bauhausstraße erscheint so in anderem Licht – nämlich als idealer Kandidat für ein Experiment in nachhaltigem Bauen. Der Erhalt scheinbar unwürdiger Substanz führt außerdem wie von allein zum Nachdenken darüber, was eigentlich hässlich ist und wie eine Ästhetik der Nachhaltigkeit aussehen könnte.
Im Seminar wollen wir herausfinden, zu welchen gestalterische Konsequenzen der veränderte Blick auf den Bestand führt und wie im konkreten Fall mit der B7b umzugehen ist. Es wird um die Fassade gehen und Photovoltaik, um den Außenbereich und die Dachnutzung, um Konstanten und Varianten der CO2-Bilanz und um die Frage, wie wir als Universität mit allen hier versammelten Kompetenzen die B7b klimawirksam umbauen können. Im Seminar verbinden sich Recherche, Erforschung und Bauteilbiopsie mit einer Übung in angewandter Utopie: mit welchem Eingriff können wir jetzt und sofort den Umbau in Gang bringen?
On the campus at Bauhausstraße 7b is an old building from the seventies that is slowly rotting away. The paint is peeling, the plaster is crumbling, the building seems ready for demolition. Consistent climate protection, however, means that the perspective on existing buildings must change, because even the ugliest house acquires new value through the energy enclosed in ist construction.
In this sens the building at Bauhausstraße appears in a different light, too - namely as an ideal candidate for an experiment in sustainable building. The preservation of seemingly unworthy substance also leads us to think about what we actually consider ugly and how aesthetics of sustainability could look like.
In the seminar we want to learn how the changing perspective on existing buildings leads to new consequences in urban and architectural design, her especially related to the building at Bauhausstraße 7b. We will duscuss the façade and photovoltaics, the exterior and the use of the roof, about constants and variants of the CO2 calculations and the question of how we, as a university with ist expertise and know-how, can convert the B7b into an example of climate-friendly architecture. In this seminar, we will combine research, exploration and construction biopsy with an exercise in applied utopia: how can we, here and now, create hands-on interventions to get the conversion going?
