Metadel Sileshi Belihu
Coordinator of ECL-AA, DAAD Fellow
Metadel is the scientific coordinator of ECL-AA (Emerging City Lab – Addis Ababa), a collaborative research and teaching center between Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and EiABC (Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building construction and City development, AAU). She is also a PhD candidate at the chair of InfAR of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since 10/2019. She has a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning and a Masters in Housing and Sustainable Development from EiABC. Before moving to Germany, she was working as a research associate at ECL-AA, EiABC; involving herself in different research projects and teaching the masters Design studio in Architectural Engineering with a lecturer capacity. Prior to that she was a part-time assistant lecturer at the Chair of Housing at EiABC for the course in Housing and Inner-City Redevelopment. She also has ample practical experience in the field of Architecture mainly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Her research interest lies in the socio-spatial dimension of urban spaces, largely related to common spaces and housing.
