The skylight hall was very well filled with over 100 interested guests. At the panel discussion moderated by Sandra Hunning and Daniela Zupan, Frank Eckardt and Max Welch Guerra, alongside Susanne Frank and Verena von Beckerath, alongside Frank Eckardt and Max Welch Guerra, moderated by Sandra Hunning and Daniela Zupan, discussed the history of the term "European Urbanism". They gave a biographical account of the zeitgeist at the beginning of the 2000s, the most important references to European and US models, and explained to the audience of students and alumni why "European" was seen as an alternative to nationalism at the time and what "urban studies" meant: the establishment of the subject of "planning" at an architecture faculty. This event was the first in a three-part series of discussions organized by Daniela Zupan and Sandra Huning.
After the panel discussion, the President of the Bauhaus University Weimar, Peter Benz, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Studies, Sigrun Langner, as well as Daniela Zupan and Elodie Vittu welcomed the guests in the foyer of the main building. The "IfEU showcase" was ceremoniously opened here, an exhibition that will present teaching and research projects as well as the history of the institute throughout the anniversary year.
The afternoon continued with the "IfEU Dialogue", in which the various professorships at the institute discussed their research topics and approaches. The discussions highlighted the interdisciplinarity and common spirit of the IfEU. At the end, the participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas with representatives of selected student projects over snacks and drinks at a "project bistro". In addition, the exhibition "Umbruch", in cooperation with Experimental Radio, was ceremoniously opened.
