12.12. »Animating Contested Sites« – Radio Talk with Theatre maker Paula McFertridge
In the Radio Talk on Tuesday, December 12, 7 p.m., the artist and theatre director Paula McFertridge (theatre group Kabosh, Belfast) will talk about her activist approach and participatory theatre works. Anyone interested is cordially invited to the Limona glass case.
Paula McFertridge’s talk »Animating Contested Sites« will revolve around public space, activism, and how theatrical animation can assist citizens in imagining new possibilities – especially for locations that have witnessed trauma. She developed her craft as an arts activist in a post-conflict society in Ireland. McFertridge will question what is the role of the artist when provoking informed conversations about the past, and how art may play a role in changing the future. McFertridge will present some of her recent works throughout the talk and will lay open the artistic practices of the theatre company. The talk is followed by an open conversation / Q&A.
The Belfast-based theatre company »Kabosh« of which she is Artistic Director, is committed to challenging the idea of what theatre is, who is it for and where it is staged. »Kabosh« extends the role models of classical theatre as well as its location and the practices to develop a piece communally.
