Uta Thofern
Uta Thofern was born in 1963. In 1982, she began to study English/ History/ Pedagogy/ Psychology which she finished with her first state examination in 1986. From 1988-1989 she went through an apprenticeship in editorial journalism at the Deutsche Journalistenschule in Munich. Uta Thofern has already been involved in several radio stations, such as RTL Luxemburg (news editor and speaker), RIAS Berlin(editor and moderator), and MDR Thüringen(leader of the news department). Recently she operated as editor-in-chief at Deutsche Welle (German, English and European Programmes/EU- projects) as well as an assistant chief in news at the MDR Fernsehen. Besides the Bauhaus University she has also taught some courses at Technische Universiät Ilmenau, Leipzig Universität and IRIB University of Teheran. Since 2006 she has been the editor-in-chief of DW-World.de
