Lecture: Dr. Shradha Chandan

On Thursday, 30 January 2025, 6 p.m., Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 7, Atelier 116, Dr. Shradha Chandan (DAAD Prime Fellow) will give a lecture about »Finding Balance« between urban change and cultural preservation. The focus is put on how historic neighbourhoods can navigate the delicate balance between urban change and cultural preservation through participartory and co-creative design and planning methods. The lecture will be moderated by Prof. Willmann. Anyone interested is warmly invited to join!

Community participation is a central, although contested, terrain in the transformation of historic neighbourhoods, with the potential to shape inclusive urban conservation practices.

This presentation explores the dynamic interplay between urban transformation and community participation in the context of historic neighbourhoods, focusing on the challenges and opportunities of fostering inclusion. Taking a comparative look at South Asian and European perspectives, it explores how community-orientated approaches contribute to the preservation of cultural identities in the midst of rapid urban change.
