You have already received a confirmation for your study abroad? Congratulations! Here you will find faculty-specific information for the next steps.
In the following FAQ we have summarised the most frequently asked questions and the answers to them for you.
Have a look at the Downloadcenter of the International Office for important information and documents that you will need for going abroad. Before starting your semester or year abroad, you have to prepare a Learning Agreement.
The Learning Agreement is an agreement between the student, the sending insitution, and the receiving institution and needs to be reached before the mobility.
Please note the following:
As of now, it is mandatory to prepare the Learning Agreement using the OLA platform (https://learning-agreement.eu/).
Students of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are required to to prepare their Learning Agreements using the Online Learning Agreement (OLA)-platform. Please follow the proecess (see manual) via the OLA platform as far as possible and send the Learning Agreement via e-mail to the receiving institution only when necessary.
The background of switching to an online version of the Learing Agreement via the OLA-platform:
The European Commission has obliged all European universities to the introduction of "ERASMUS Without Paper". Central processes now need to be digitised, such as the compilation of the Learning Agreement. Unfortunately, as of now, not all European universities have implemented this standard. Please be patient in these cases.
Please send your subject-specific questions (for example: courses you want to take, recognition requests) to your International Counsellor: artanddesign-outgoing@uni-weimar.de
Organisational questions should be addressed to the International Office outgoing[at]uni-weimar.de
Please contact your academic advisor (List of contact persons in the green box) for any questions regarding your degree programme.
As a last step, you submit the Learning Agreement signed by all three parties (part: »BEFORE mobility«) before going abroad via e-mail to outgoing[at]uni-weimar.de with the subject »[DOK] Learning Agreement«.
Please inform yourself on the webpages of your receiving institution. If it is not possible to define the exact courses which a student will attend before lessons start, fill out the Learning Agreement on the basis of the general disciplines offered or the courses offered last academic year.
It is common that your courses may change during the time abroad, even several times. A change of the Learning Agreement due to changed or adjusted courses is provided within a period of up to four weeks after the start of classes. This form must be signed again by you as well as by your receving institution and your academic advisor. Afterwars it must be handed in.
The Transcript of Records (ToR) documents a student's performance by listing the courses taken, the credits earned, and the local grades achieved. You will receive this from the receiving institution. You may have to formally apply for it, so it is best to inquire with the receving institution before your departure.
For the recognition and conversion of grades, students submit the application for recognition together with the ToR to the academic advisor. The academic advisor checks the acquired achievements and decides on the recognition. The conversion of grades is carried out centrally by the International Counsellor. From there, the grades are reported to the examination office of the faculty responsible for the degree programme.
For questions regarding course selection and the recognition of individual courses of the exchange university, please contact the academic advisor of your degree programme, for organisational questions contact the International Counsellor.
Information on how to extend your stay abroad can be found on the website of the International Office at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar: Extension (uni-weimar.de).
