NOVA is a platform for contemporary art and current questions of artistic practice and its (re)presentation. In exhibitions as well as other experimental formats, NOVA is dedicated to the discourse of contemporary exhibition practice.
NOVA was founded in spring 2019 in cross-faculty collaboration with students at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. It combines academic teaching with hands-on projects ranging from artistic, curatorial, and design practice to exhibition management, architecture, and communication – all within the context of a locally as well as globally-oriented art field.
NOVA pursues the goal of professionalizing the artistic and design work of Bauhaus-Universität Weimars’s students and bringing it to the public. Furthermore, the activities of the university gallery are put into interaction with the cultural landscape outside the school through collaboration and connecting the students with actors from the professional art field.
