Regulations for lending in the photo workshop
Basically, our lending service is for students of the Faculty of Art + Design. Loans are processed via the following page: leihka.uni-weimar.de . As a participant in a photography course/project, you will automatically receive your access data at the beginning of the semester or on request at: fotowerkstatt[at]gestaltung.uni-weimar.de . Please name your degree programme when making enquiries.
Please note that the photo workshop does not lend any equipment for video work. Video equipment is provided by the video workshop and the Media Point.
Reservations:
When making a reservation, you will be asked to specify a pick-up and return date. Please take the pick-up/return time slot into account when making your plans. Reserved loans that have not been collected will be deleted after 24 hours. Technology not returned on time will be automatically sanctioned with an initial 14-day loan suspension.
Extensions:
Extensions are not possible, as the loan contract you signed always specifies a certain period of time.
However, you can try to make a follow-up reservation: To do this, reserve all the items you have borrowed from the day following the drop-off date of your current loan. Notify us of this and come to the workshop at the time of the original return of your current loan to sign the contract of the follow-up booking. Should it transpire that one or more items are unavailable when you re-book your previously borrowed equipment, the entire loan must be returned on the agreed date, an extension / follow-up booking is not possible in this case.
Duration of a loan / confirmation by the lecturer:
As short as possible, as long as necessary. Please ask your lecturer to confirm loans lasting more than 14 days in advance (informally) and send it to fotowerkstatt[at]gestaltung.uni-weimar.de.
The regulations made by the faculty (see below) for loans stipulate that every loan must be confirmed by the lecturer concerned. In order to keep the effort low for smaller loans such as light meters, tripods, filters etc., a confirmation is not necessary up to a replacement value of about 1,500€. If you are unsure about the replacement value of your planned loan, please ask the workshop staff in advance. For participants in photography courses/projects, we will obtain the necessary permits for you in advance.
Insurance, damage, loss, stays abroad:
We generally recommend that you check whether there is insurance cover for damage or loss of equipment for which you are responsible. For stays abroad, it is necessary to take out and provide proof of appropriate insurance against damage and loss.
For equipment assemblies with a very high replacement value, you will also be asked to provide proof of insurance cover. You will be provided with tested and clean equipment by us. It is your responsibility to check a loan for completeness and functionality upon collection. In addition to careful handling, we also expect the equipment to be returned clean.
Regulation of lending: (Official part)
Technical equipment, the use of which is not exclusively intended in the laboratories or workshops, can be lent to students of the faculty for the realisation of work as well as to lecturers.
The loan – both for independent use of the equipment within the faculty complex and outside – requires the use of this form to ensure proper handling and the necessary care.
Equipment is issued and returned by the workshop foreman of the technical unit concerned. Lending to students requires the signature of the lecturer supervising the course work. The loan periods are regulated by the respective laboratory supervisor or by the workshop foreman acting on his/her behalf.
I assure that the technical equipment provided to me for the above-mentioned period will be used exclusively for the purpose confirmed by the supervising lecturer.
In the event of theft or damage caused by improper handling, storage or transport as well as unauthorised use of the equipment, I undertake to assume liability for the damage. In all other respects, the statutory provisions on lending (§§598 ff BGB) shall apply.
