Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lars Abrahamczyk

Welcome to the Chair of Advanced Structures!

Our research and teaching focuses on the system analysis of structures including derivation of suitable partial models, engineering consideration of coupling and interactions, recording and consideration of extreme and changing load conditions as well as avoidance or evaluation of collapse potential using latest technologies (tools of digital engineering). Advanced Structures not only include the structures with high risk potential, lightweight and tent constructions, but also includes the use of damping elements and the interaction phenomena in standard construction methods.

ProTELC: Science Camp »RoboBau 2023«

On the preceding Thursday, Science Camp RoboBau 2023 commenced its activities at Hochschule Schmalkalden. This event brought together students from four universities in Thuringia, who have converged to take on a distinctive challenge: the creation of a bridge using robotic arms, facilitated by camera technology. This camp, scheduled to run from September 21st to the 29th, will culminate in a final competition set for Friday 29th September 2023.

The participants in this venture represent diverse master's programs, encompassing Structural, Mechanical, and Digital Engineering; Mechatronics and Robotics; and Human-Computer Interaction. The camp is enriched by informative lectures delivered by both Hochschule Schmalkalden and the Bauhaus University Weimar. Furthermore, a guest lecture by Adtran Networks SE is on the agenda, as well as an excursion to Mehnert Experts for Special Machines 4.0.

Additionally, a guest lecture from Professor László Dunai (Budapest University of Technology and Economics) on the topic of bridge structural systems and design principles, provided the participants an insight to aid them in their camp task.

The Science Camp is made possible through the support of the Allianz Thüringer Ingenieurwissenschaften project - ProTELC.

The Chair of Advanced Structures offers projects and thesis in English and German Language. Interested students can either choose from the list of predefined topics or come up with their own ideas.
