At the chair of Applied Mathematics within the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, a position as a

                                                        Research Associate (m/f/d)


will be available starting from February 1st (to be filled by April 1st, 2025 at the latest).

The position offers the possibility to further the scientific qualification of the applicant (e.g. PhD studies). The position is three years fixed term appointment, with a possibility of extension within the limitations of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG). The position is full-time appointment (40 hours/week). Part-time employment is possible.

Responsibilities:
- Independent preparation and delivery of teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's programs at the Faculty of Civil Engineering
- Supervision of students, including presentations, lectures, projects, and theses
- Contribution to the production of teaching materials and publications for the Chair
- Support for the Chair of Applied Mathematics in research, project work, as well as administrative tasks and committee work
- Engagement in third-party funding acquisition and cooperation with partner institutions

The position offers the possibility to pursue a doctoral degree.

Requirements:
- A university degree in Applied Mathematics or related fields, with at least a "good" overall grade
- In-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Systems Theory, Differential Equations, Dynamic Systems, Functional Analysis/Operator Theory, Convex Analysis, Numerical Linear Algebra
- Willingness to continue professional development and to familiarize oneself with new areas of study
- Interest in teaching and transmitting specialized knowledge to students
- Very good written and spoken English skills
- Good knowledge of German is helpful
- Programming skills in Python
- Experience with the LaTeX typesetting system
- Willingness to present scientific results at international conferences
- Commitment, teamwork, motivation, and social competence

The salary will be according to the provisions of the TV-L (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder), corresponding to the individual's qualifications, up to salary group 13 TV-L (salary range approximately 54.000 to 77.000 EUR/year).
