Project description
The interactive platform "P-BANK" creates means of identification with the intersection points between wastewater disposal and resource recovery. The project, funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation, includes the testing of a newly developed toilet facility for public space to present new sustainable sanitation systems (NASS) as an alternative to conventional sewage systems. The stated aim of the P-Bank is to raise users' awareness of the scarcity of the vital ressource phosphorus (P = "phosphorus") as well as the simultaneous misdirection of nutrients (P = to "pee") and the resulting harmful environmental impact.
With the cooperation with numerous projects and companies that focus on topics such as sustainability, resource conservation and recycling strategies, the P-Bank clearly shows a spectrum of closed-loop recycling that exceeds the recycling of wastewater. In addition to the project partnership with Werkhaus Design + Production GmbH, a deeply interwoven collaboration with the award-winning temporary restaurant "LÜCKE", the non-profit Goldeimer gGmbH and EOOS Design GmbH from Vienna will be part of the project.
From the 3rd of may to the 16th of august 2019, the P-Bank is located next to the LÜCKE on the premises of The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar between Marienstraße 9 and 13.
