Predictive simulation of construction site noise emissions from heavy equipment
We are please to announce the publication of a new article from the Chair of Construction Engineering and Management in the Journal of Sustainable and Smart Building Environments (2024). The paper titled “Predictive simulation of construction site noise emissions from heavy equipment” is a result of the collaborative work of our doctoral candidate Nasim Babazadeh with Prof. Teizer (DTU Denmark) co-authored by Prof. Melzner and Prof. Bargstädt. This paper presents a BIM-based, noise-mapping method that creates noise maps by exporting the noise source data from BIM models with primarily focuses on inner cities and urban areas construction projects. It aims to show how the BIM method can enhance the construction noise prediction process during construction as well as the advantages of employing noise mapping methods in this regard. The framework was validated using real-time monitored noise data recorded by sensors.
