Students have in-depth knowledge of digital methods for computer-aided design and calculation of engineering structures (including bridges). In particular, it deals with the understanding, application and limitations of the following concepts in the context of Building Information Modeling: parametric modeling, details of data exchange formats IFC and BCF, level of development and BIM execution planning. Furthermore, students are enabled to deal with modern software systems to design, analyse, and visualize a selected engineering structure in a computer-aided design project.
Content:
- Parametric modeling, freeform modeling
- BIM maturity levels
- Levels of Development (Level of Information, Level of Geometry)
- Industry Foundation Classes (IFC, incl. infrastructure) and Building Collaboration Format (BCF)
- BIM-Executionplan (BEP)
- Exemplary software systems for the continuous flow of information in the planning process of engineering structures
