On January 1, 2024, Luise Göbel took up the position of Junior Professor of Mechanics of Engineering Materials at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The junior professorship is a member of the F. A. Finger Institute for Building Materials Science and the Institute of Structural Mechanics and acts as a "bridge chair".
In research and teaching, the professorship deals with new approaches to experimental and numerical materials mechanics and, in particular, further develops approaches for combining experimental methods with theoretical model development and their implementation in numerical simulation methods. Other areas of research include new material concepts that take into account climate and resource protection as well as sustainability aspects, data-based methods for characterizing materials and validating material models as well as new manufacturing processes for the functionalization of materials and components and their description in simulation models.
