Resource Management at Summaery24
On July 12, students from the Master's program in Environmental Engineering presented their project results at the Science Mile at Summaery24.
Under this year's motto of Summaery24 Plan B, the Coudraystraße was closed and transformed into a traffic-calmed area with a real campus feeling. The Faculty B&U took this opportunity to host a street festival where future-oriented projects were presented together with students and staff. Through the commitment of those involved, the master's project Closed loop or one-way street? Path of textiles made its way into the Summaery.
This project, which addresses the issue of textile sorting and the circular economy, was located between the VertiKKA and the popular soap bubble corner for children in the courtyard of Coudraystraße 10. Visitors were invited to actively participate in discussions about the current handling of textile waste, textile sorting, and the challenges of the fast fashion industry. Additionally, there was an opportunity to use a near-infrared spectroscopy handheld device to playfully identify textile material compositions and thus experience existing technology. Support in the design of the booth was provided through a sunshade made of old textiles by a former architecture student of Bauhaus University Weimar.
