German-Russian Workshop „Urban Infrastructure“ in Moscow February 25th – March 1st, 2019
Six students and two lecturers of the Chair of Transport System Planning attended the joined German-Russian Workshop “Urban Infrastructure”, which took place at the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering in late February. This year the main topic of the workshop was the mobility of students and staff on the MGSU campus.
In Moscow, the students worked in interdisciplinary and international teams on concepts to improve the traffic situation on the MGSU campus. The students started with an analysis of the current state and then developed solutions for identified problems. The proposed solutions include an autonomous shuttle and an improvement of the bicycle infrastructure on the territory.
Aside the project work, the MGSU offered an extensive cultural programme: The participants visited the Moscow city model in the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy, the Moscow Transportation Museum and the new business district Moscow City. The current planning for the upgrade of the public transport system could be experienced in the interactive exhibition of the Moscow Central Diameter.
From the side of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Dipl.-Ing. Raimo Harder and Dipl.-Ing. Julius Uhlmann participated in the workshop as supervisors. The student group consisted of three master students of Environmental Engineering and three bachelor students of Urbanism. The common project work, the common excursions and the common free time activates, created a good international exchange between the participants.
The workshop was offered as a module together with a seminar during the winter semester. In the course of the seminar, the students gave presentations on topics related to mobility management and discussed the specific characteristics of transportation planning in Russia.
The next workshop “Urban Infrastructure” will take place in Weimar from February 24th to 28th in Weimar.
