Office of the Logistics Network Thuringia to be based at the Chair of Transport System Planning in future
The Logistik Netzwerk Thüringen (LNT) has completed a change in its office. On 1 October, Lena Klopfstein took over the management of the office, which is now located at Bauhaus University Weimar. Based at the Chair of Transport System Planning headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Plank-Wiedenbeck, the close links between the university and the network should lead to additional synergies. Central challenges such as digitalisation or the mobility revolution can thus be better tackled together.
As a member of staff at the Chair of Transport System Planning, environmental engineer Lena Klopfstein is involved in a wide range of innovation projects in the fields of mobility and transport, such as the Bauhaus.MobilityLab. The aim is to test and develop sustainable and intelligent solutions for mobility, logistics and energy supply. Previously, Klopfstein was the project manager for the Weimar Concept for Sustainable Mobility Development (WeNaMo). In addition, the Bauhaus University Weimar has great expertise in hydrogen technologies, which are particularly forward-looking for truck transport, among other things through its participation in the h2-well programme. Most recently, Weimar was included in the list of HyLand hydrogen regions.
"Logistics and mobility concern us all. The transfer of knowledge and the exchange with business and society are central concerns for me. A closer connection between the Chair of Transport System Planning and the Logistics Network Thuringia holds great potential for entrepreneurs and researchers," emphasises Prof. Dr.-Ing. Plank-Wiedenbeck.
Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has been a member of the Logistics Network Thuringia since 2019. Previously, for example, it had already collaborated on studies on the potential of sustainable and intelligent mobility and logistics in Thuringia (PoMoLoT). Bauhaus University and LNT were also jointly involved in the field of logistics in the "Regional Research and Innovation Strategy for Intelligent Specialisation for Thuringia" (RIS3).
"The current challenges for logisticians are immense. That is why we are supporting small and medium-sized enterprises from Thuringia in particular to make more targeted use of opportunities that arise in the field of digitalisation and to be at the forefront of the changeover to more sustainable technologies and drives. We have found an ideal partner for this in the Bauhaus University Weimar. The cooperation offers our member companies new access to know-how and projects that can represent a great added value," says Joachim Werner, Chairman of the Board at Logistik Netzwerk Thüringen, and adds: "I would also like to expressly thank our member company Cocoon GmbH, which handled the tasks of the office with great competence and commitment during the transition phase."
Logistik Netzwerk Thüringen e.V. is a cooperative association of specialists from all branches of the industry founded in 2008. In addition to freight forwarders, shippers and contract logistics providers, the network unites companies from the fields of combined freight transport, IT and e-commerce, research and development, education and training as well as logistics-related services, associations and public administration.
The aim of the association is to strengthen Thuringia as a European distribution hub and to establish it as the central logistics location for e-commerce in Germany. To achieve this, the network develops future-proof, sustainable and demand-oriented solutions for the logistics industry with and for its members.
